Sabbath Greeting 07/21/2012

Sabbath Greetings Brethren! Each week in the “Sabbath Greetings”we look at a different aspect of Christian living, a Biblical lesson or the wonderful coming of God’s Kingdom here on earth, which is just so necessary. Yet have we grown too accustomed to this admonition each Sabbath?
This week, as I write you about the good news of God’s Son returning to this earth, I was again riveted by still another tragedy. On the news this evening they were showing the tour bus in Bulgaria where Israeli tourists were just beginning to enjoy their “holiday” tour. The Israeli tourist “suicide bomber” as he is being dubbed, wasted his life, the bus driver’s life and the lives of six more people, while injuring 30; and for what?
This generated a strong response from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who said Iran, the Jewish state’s arch-enemy, was behind the attack and that “Israel will react powerfully against Iranian terror.”
The hurt continues as medical officials said two badly injured Israeli tourists were taken to hospitals in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. One woman was in intensive care with head and chest injuries and a man was in a critical state with burns covering 55 percent of his body. These people will never be the same; proving, that this is a world held captive by Satan the devil. If you don’t believe it, look around and think, God did not create this mess, man did under the influence of Satan.
Each of us in God’s Church certainly needs understand, we simply MUST be different. This “outburst of wrath” is not of God and equally so, neither are any of those outbursts of wrath that come from members in the Church of God. Find a scripture to back up that kind of behavior up. There is none.
Maybe some of us also will come to grips with, why God’s Kingdom simply must come to this earth, to stop all the incredible madness. It is madness, which is beginning to grip society. The love of many, as Matthew 24 states, will grow cold; and what’s more significant about that scripture is this “coldness” will rub off on some of us, if, we do not stir up His Spirit, to hold fast to what we have been taught.
We need Christ to return and He will. However in the interim, as this society creeps further along to destruction, we could find our self near a future “outburst of wrath” and we won’t be prepared. And we don’t prepare for the future by running in terror but by and through Christ, who set us an example that we must walk in it.
God will not be mocked (Gal. 6:7). This word mocked means (from Thayer’s): “to turn up the nose or sneer at; to mock, deride” and is that what any do, to God, when He says to all of us who should know better, be different? “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
The words “outbursts of wrath” come from the Greek word ????? thumos {thoo-mos’} with meanings (Thayer’s) of: passion, angry, heat, anger forthwith boiling up and soon subsiding again, the wine of passion, inflaming wine (which either drives the drinker mad or kills him with its strength).
Notice terms of: “drives the drinker mad” or “inflaming” or “boiling up” which are all indicative of a lack of self-control. These are those, literally going mad. Mad as the world is going. So whenever something really “makes you mad” – think! Are you becoming like this world or more like God?
Now compare to what all of us MUST do to enter the Kingdom of God: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” (Gal 5:19-23 NKJ)
The good news of His coming Kingdom, of total love, can’t come quite yet, till this world has finished God’s allotted 6000 years; but no more. Who could endure more? Adam and Eve made the initial choice, to choose selfishness over God’s love.
Society could not stand any more time; or it would totally destroy itself, as this world’s ways, its pleasure and its ideas, that which men think are right, are ways that lead to death. In the meantime, we will see more of these “mad” things as this world continues to go it’s insane way. So are we becoming the opposite? Or just going along for the ride with everyone else?
The GOOD NEWS, that each week Dr. Meredith, Mr. Ames and others on the Tomorrow’s World Telecast proclaim, is the good news of Christ’s return, to this earth, to stop this madness, to stop the boiling and inflaming ways and attitudes of this world!
God speed that day when the madness will stop! That is the good news. True love is to think outside ourselves to something bigger than just us. That is true service. As God the Father, who loved us all so much, He sacrificed His only perfect Son for all.
Not so we can just sit around in a heaven like environment in the future; but so we can really do something with what God has given us. That something is to put all things back on track, hastening or speeding up, total righteousness. It begins now with each of us!
This Sabbath, we plan God willing to be in Santa Fe in the morning at 10:00 AM for Bible Study followed by Sabbath Services at 11:30 AM. Later in the afternoon at 3:00 PM we plan to be in Albuquerque.
