Sabbath Greeting 07/14/2012

Greetings Brethren! Today, my e-mail in-box had an article with the headline reading: “With intense drought conditions severely damaging corn harvests, U.S. companies are taking the unusual step of importing corn from Brazil.”

Yet, the general news media has reported virtually nothing about this. Long time readers of the Plain Truth Magazine and now Tomorrow’s World, coupled with those in God’s Church, should be taking serious note of this; or are we all too wrapped up in our own lives to see what is happening?

Gradually, we are finding ourselves in the end times and we don’t even know it. Scoffers laugh but corn is a staple of life. When we import more and more of our staples or basic necessities, how long before we become so dependent on others, that we would give anything for it, even slavery?

As the Detroit News Reports two days ago: “The worst U.S. drought since Ronald Reagan was president is withering the world’s largest corn crop, and the speed of the damage may spur the government to make a record cut in its July estimate for domestic inventories.”

“Tumbling yields will combine with the greatest-ever global demand to leave U.S. stockpiles on Sept. 1, 2013, at 1.216 billion bushels, according to the averages compiled by Bloomberg. That’s 35 percent below the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s June 12 forecast, implying the biggest reduction since at least 1973.”

The government estimates are wrong. So what else can’t we count on? Remember, I pointed out some time ago, that corn is used in everything, from your gasoline, to meat, to dairy, to many foodstuffs or products we use almost daily.

Jeff Miller, in his article quoted above, goes on to say: “Crops on July 1 were in the worst condition since 1988, and a Midwest heat wave last week set or tied 1,067 temperature records, government data show. Prices surged 37 percent in three weeks, and Rabobank International said June 28 that corn may rise 9.9 percent more by December to near a record $8 a bushel. The gain is threatening to boost food costs…… and feed prices for meat producers including Smithfield Foods Inc. “The drought is much worse than last year and approaching the 1988 disaster,” said John Cory, the chief executive officer of Rochester, Indiana-based grain processor Prairie Mills Products LLC.”

He goes on to say something even more incredible: “There are crops that won’t make it. The dairy and livestock industries are going to get hit very hard. People are just beginning to realize the depth of the problem. About 53 percent of the Midwest, where farmers harvested 60 percent of last year’s U.S. crop, had moderate to extreme drought conditions as of July 3, the highest since the government-funded U.S. Drought Monitor in Lincoln, Neb., began tracking the data in 2000.”

This is serious. As well, the headlines in still another article in the Bloomberg News states: “Asian Corn Demand Seen Gaining as Drought Shrivels U.S. Crop.”Honestly Brethren are we prepared?

As our national and individual buying power diminishes, it critical we learn from the past and grow in grace and knowledge. Our own pet peeves, ideas, issues, irritations, thoughts, doctrinal approaches, etc., etc., need to be put aside and we must learn what God is teaching us. Make no mistake, as a nation, we will lose that buying power and prestige, the blessings God gave us because, as a nation, we have not learned to take direction from our God. So we will begin to feel His correction in our wallets, then in many other ways and finally as an entire nation.

Another article states a similar, all too apparent message, even in the first paragraph, on Stockton, California having declared bankruptcy which “…was overshadowed by the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act. But both stories have something in common. They point to the reality that if the United States continues on its current course, the country will go broke.”

That is right, BROKE. We think it can’t happen. Think again. The article by Gallup continues (dated July 2): “Now, imagine, this suddenly happens in a few other cities, then 100 cities, and then 1,000 cities, and you have a national economic Armageddon.”(Thanks to the member who sent this.)

Yet this world is not even listening to some of its best minds; but we of all people need to hear. We are in the end times. The only way to prepare for this is spiritually! God has blessed this nation and now He is slowly allowing these blessings to lapse.

Yet God says: “You have wearied the LORD with your words.” This world has said many things but is not listen to the giver of all life. Are we willing to listen? Are we willing to grow and become more than we are now?

Test yourself. When a minister of Jesus Christ challenges you to be different, are we? Do we listen to instruction and even correction or do we try to get our own way? The world is not listening; but are we? Time for all in God’s Church to wake up out of our sleepiness, of physical things, ideas, attitudes, job, money and our own actions, that do not necessarily please God and then, listen to God’s pure words of wisdom from His faithful ministry!

God then answers the above comments by a people who should know Him but who don’t get it. These are clueless, as we might say in the vernacular. “”How have we wearied him?” you ask. You have wearied him by saying that all who do evil are good in the LORD’s sight, and he is pleased with them. You have wearied him by asking, “Where is the God of justice?””

Yes, at times, even we in God’s Church, miss the point. He sends messengers for 6000 years; and many did not listen. Are we listening?

God answers those above: “Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. But who will be able to endure it when he comes? Who will be able to stand and face him when he appears? For he will be like a blazing fire that refines metal, or like a strong soap that bleaches clothes. He will sit like a refiner of silver, burning away the dross. He will purify the Levites, refining them like gold and silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the LORD.”(Mal 2:17-3:3 NLT)

Each generation has had messengers fulfilling part of this very passage but who today will be able to stand? Only those who prepared spiritually. So are we involved, engaged, on track and “with it” spiritually? Do we want God involved in our lives, and for Him to adjust, mold or build our character; and yes even course correct us?

In fact He does have the right to mold His clay, those who are His. Each week we receive strong meat from a dedicated team of teachers and ministry. Begin now to really apply what you have been taught. God says clearly: “If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise. 32If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. 33 Fear of the LORD teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.” (Proverbs 15:31-1 NLT)

God is teaching us now, so we can teach the world with the right attitude, the lessons that are refused today by the majority. Learn the lessons well and grow by being at Church services. Apply what is taught, serve your fellow brothers and sisters and trust those who have been given the responsibility to watch over you (Hebrews 13:17). Then you will be spiritually ready for what is coming because God will do all the rest for you!

A must playsermon “The Falling Away” by Dr. Winnail is planned for Albuquerque at 3:00 PM and Santa Fe at 11:30 AM. Mr. Sedliacik plans to speak on one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit for the main message in Tucson at 10:30 AM.

We plan to be in Prescott tomorrow at 10:30 AM; and in the afternoon, Phoenix at 3 PM. I have some interesting developments on the new Phoenix hall. Please pray about this. The main message will be on: “Salvation is Love Magnified into Serving.” Church Services in Las Cruces-El Paso will be on the phone hookup to Phoenix at 4:00 PM (New Mexico time) in our Arrey NM location, all God willing, of course.

Don’t miss it and have a peaceful Sabbath evening!

Sincerely,

Rodger L. Bardo, Area Pastor
